Brand origin
Gabrielle Chanel opened a millinery shop at 21 rue Cambon in 1910, funded by her lover Boy Capel. She quickly expanded into sportswear and jersey — fabrics previously reserved for undergarments — liberating women from corsets and changing fashion forever.
Heritage
Coco Chanel opened a millinery on rue Cambon in 1910 and went on to liberate women from corsetry — borrowing menswear fabrics, inventing costume jewellery as high fashion, and codifying the LBD. Karl Lagerfeld led the house from 1983 to 2019; Virginie Viard succeeded him, followed by Matthieu Blazy in 2024.
